I either lost another weekend or based on the wife’s possible purchases, saved myself about $800.
Redwood base (leftover from another table) with ambrosia maple top. The wild grain is the result of a tree that got infested by ambrosia beetles. They bore into the tree making a network of small tunnels and a fungus then streaks the wood. The finish is shellac which is a resin secreted by the lac bug found and processed in India and Thailand. Sounds like a great table to eat off of, no?
