Your Penn Yan Hunter is beautiful. I too have a Hunter, that I paddled as a young man and later inherited it from my dad when he died. My memories of spending time with my dad in this canoe are still vivid and the boat makes me smile every time I look at it. I am trying to do some research on the boat, but I am a bit stumped. The serial number is CL 855. When I look on the Wooden Canoe Heritage Site, it states that the first 2 numbers of the serial number stand for the year built. This cannot be accurate because I remember paddling this canoe in the early 60’s as a very young boy. Would you have any thoughts on this?
