During the appointment today we discussed my recent absence from the area. That is how I learned about your company and the reason for this message. After retiring from the corporate world, I spent the last 2 seasons at WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, Maine. I have been building strip planked canoes and kayaks for 30 years or so and parlayed this experience into a job in the boat building workshop at WoodenBoat. This season ended in October and I am home working in my own basement shop building a strip planked wherry and design/building custom made bent-shaft canoe paddles with emphasis on double bend laminated shafts. Anyway, while reviewing your site I could not help but note your possible need of shop assistance. I plan to be bored at home sometime after the first of the year and I am always looking for adventure. I love your boats and have very good woodworking skills, but I have not built wood/canvas canoes. Rolling Thurlow and Elise Schine from Dover-Foxcroft, Maine area teach a 6-day class in the workshop and I have familiar and intrigued by your process. Maybe you need someone like me and I can find a way to make it work before returning to Maine mid-April, 2019. Give me a call if you wish to discuss the possibilities.
